Ted’s first encounter at Farhampton lighthouse is with a girl called Cassie. This supposedly happened during May 2013. This happens right before Barney and Robin’s wedding. Not two years later, which is how it’s presented to us, is supposedly when Ted proposes to Tracy.
Ted then says to Tracy how he wishes it was her there with him two years ago, confirming this date. Many fans assumed Ted would’ve proposed before having baby Penny, but continuity confirms this is not the case.
