Often, you can find advertisements that use beauty in order to promote their products. These days, this is done a lot with a lot more subtlety and tact than back in the day.
For example, this vintage ad from 1959 is promoting a color projector slide, however that is pretty unclear from the advertisement itself. This is due to the fact that Sabrina appears to be the focal point of the ad, and the projector added in as an afterthought.
