In June 1962 Frank Morris, John Anglin, and his brother Clarence set out to escape the confines of their prison and take on the ice cold and violent waters of the San Francisco Bay.
The escape took place on the night of June 11, probably until the early hours of the next day. Morris was in Alcatraz for escaping prison before and committing a burglary. The Anglin brothers were bank robbers and were sent to Alcatraz after trying to escape several other prisons.
