Following a health scare with her twin Emme in 2009, Jennifer Lopez and sister Lynda initiated The Maribel Foundation, named after Maribel (Marc Anthony’s sister), who had passed away from brain cancer as a child.
Collaborating with the Children’s Hospital of Los Angeles, the primary goal was to “dramatically increase the availability of quality health care and health education for women and children, regardless of their ability to pay.” The foundation was modified to The Lopez Family Foundation after Anthony and her parted ways in 2012.
