At first, nothing much seems out of place with this particular newspaper headline. There’s a literacy program running in Mississippi, apparently, and its results seem to be promising. Sounds great, right? But reread it, and see if you can’t spot what went wrong.
Yep, that’s right – the newspaper misspelled the name of the state, writing “Missippi,” in a news item that’s about literacy. That’s more than a little ironic. Well, to be fair, they did say the program was showing improvement. They didn’t claim it was all the way done!
