When Barney is being considered as a roommate, Marshall tells Ted he Barney cooks without any clothes on. This occurs in season 1, episode 9, and thus determines Barney not to be great housemate material.
However, later on in season 2, episode 5, Barney shows Lily that he doesn’t keep any food in the fridge at all. This is to ensure people don’t want to stay there. Even later than that, in season 6, episode 10, his appliances turn out to be nothing more than cardboard cutouts. What’s going on?
