Toward the end of the 60’s, Cher and Sonny started to somewhat fade away. But in 1971, they were on The Merv Griffin Show, and their chemistry was undeniable. Some studio execs thought that Cher and Sonny had all the makings of successful hosts of a variety show.
And that’s how The Cher and Sonny Comedy Hour came into being. Their show became a giant success as it drew as much as 30 million viewers every week.
