Cher was never around her real dad because her mom divorced him while she was still a baby. Cher’s mom would go through a number of men since the divorce. One of Georgia’s husbands that was around Cher in her early childhood was Gilbert Hartmann, a banker, and Cher has a soft spot for him. She considers him the best dad and a good-natured man.
Although, she confesses that Gilbert would easily become aggressive when intoxicated.
