Cher’s marriage to Sonny was a rocky one. Beneath the façade of love, it seemed that they were having a huge fight about a lot of things. Sonny accused Cher of being a liar. But Cher accused Sonny of not only mismanaging her funds, or more correctly stealing from her, but he had let fame go to his head, and was sleeping with other women.
Cher was deeply hurt by Sonny’s betrayal and she filed for a divorce. In the divorce aftermath, Elvis Presley reached out to her, asked that she shows up to his concert to ease her grieving, but she turned him down.
