Sophie, who is today titled Countess of Wessex, was born in January 1965 with the last name Rhys-Jones. She was born in Oxford and educated at Dulwich Preparatory School but later moved to Kent College, Tunbridge Wells.

Sophie kick-started her career in public relations, and worked for Capital Radio, along with a number of other firms. Along with this, she was also a ski representative in Switzerland, spending a year traveling and working in Australia. In 1996 she launched her own PR agency, ‘RJH Public Relations’, that she ran for five years.
