There’s another strong contender for the spot of the Queen’s favorite grandchild, though. It’s Peter Phillips, who’s the son of Princess Anne, and the monarch’s oldest grandchild.
Because of a long-standing tradition, Peter was not born with a royal title, but the Queen offered to break that rule and give him a “courtesy title” – which was turned down by his parents. For the monarch to offer to break a rule probably means she has a soft spot for Peter, and that’s one of the reasons many people say he’s the Queen’s dearest grandkid.
