John Anglin claimed his brother Clarence died in 2011, and Frank Morris had also died in 2008. The FBI tested the letter for fingerprints as a part of their reopening of the case, but the results that came back were inconclusive.
The bureau tried to match the handwriting from the letter to previous writing by Anglin but could not conclusively determine whether it was a match or not. If the content of the letter was true, then it is likely the last remaining member of the escapees is also dead.
