Everyone loves talking about how romantic it is the adorable Notebook couple turned into a real one later on. But things didn’t start out that smoothly for Ryan and Rachel. At the beginning of shooting the now iconic The Notebook, the two actors got along pretty well and were friendly with each other. But soon things went south between them.
Ryan even famously took the director Nick Cassavetes aside, essentially asking him to fire Rachel as he simply couldn’t stand working with her. But somehow the two worked through their differences, and ended up dating for two years.
