At first, Suzanne didn’t believe it. She took a long, hard look at the Notre-Dame and couldn’t imagine why it would be on fire. Although she could see that there was some kind of smoke or discoloration coming from the building and making its way into the air, Suzanne wasn’t convinced that it was smoke.
At the time of their visit, contractors were working on the Notre-Dame, and the building itself was undergoing renovation work. Because of this, she just assumed that it was dust from the construction that was going on within.
