In another incident, a student at Benjamin Stoddert Middle School was told to cover her jeans with duct tape because the holes violated their policy. Although the seventh-grader did as they were told, they later revealed that the tape was burning their skin.
The child’s mother was stunned by what had happened, especially as she’d had no contact from the school. Rather than calling and asking her to bring some different clothes, they just took action. This apparently went against the school’s own protocol, which says the parent is always contacted first before doing anything.
