For many parents, these dance team uniforms showed a clear double standard. They appeared to tell students that you had to be covered up all the time unless you were a part of the school’s extracurricular clubs. In that instance, you were essentially free to show off as much of your body as you wanted.
While these moms and dads differed in their ideas of appropriateness, most agreed it wasn’t right for some students to receive special treatment over others. When it came to things like clothes, they believed everyone ought to be treated the same.
