David Letterman was secretly cheating on his wife Regina Lasko for years, and was really good at covering his tracks. Until one of the women he fooled around with decided to use the secret against him in an extortion plot.
This forced Letterman to come clean, and he apologized to his wife in the most public way possible – on his own show. It was obvious to anyone watching how genuine his apology was, and apparently Regina felt the same way – as she has stayed by his side.
