So what about that costly Frogmore renovation? Well, in the days following the bombshell announcement, we came to know a little more about that as well. The Sovereign Grant we mentioned before shelled out $3.1 million to renovate Frogmore Cottage from the ground up – essentially public funds.
As part of “Megxit,” Harry and Meghan will pay that money back, in a move signaling their growing independence. The residence will be far from abandoned, though – it will reportedly continue serving as their U.K. residence as they split their time between Britain and Canada.
