The Queen’s statement made it clear she was understanding of Harry and Meghan’s decision, but she did admit she would have preferred them to remain full-time royals. Many interpreted her statement as saying she was disappointed and sad, rather than angry.
Many also noted her very informal language referring to Harry as her grandson, and in a somewhat suspicious manner not using any titles for the couple. Some immediately said this was not a coincidence.
