In the late ‘90s, the slasher movie genre enjoyed a massive resurgence, and movies like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Halloween H20: 20 Years Later might not have made it to the big screen without Scream, the film that started this renaissance. Written by then up-and-coming screenwriter Kevin Williamson and directed by horror veteran Wes Craven, Scream follows teenager Sidney Prescott (played by Neve Campbell) and her group of friends as a mask-wearing serial killer is terrorizing their town.
Released in 1996, the Scream cast featured teenage heartthrobs alongside well-known television actors, marking itself as irresistible for audiences who couldn’t wait to watch them on the big screen. But how was life after Scream for the women of the cast? We looked back on the careers of our Scream Queens to find out.

Sidney Prescott is the lead character of the Scream film series and the main target of the masked killer. She is a student at the local high school in Woodsboro, a small town being shaken to its core by a series of violent attacks. At the same time, Sidney begins to receive suspicious phone calls from an unknown person, threatening her friends, family and herself.
Time after time, she manages to defend herself and gains the title of Final Girl, a horror movie term used to describe the last girl or woman alive. The best perk of being a Final Girl is getting to appear in all the sequels, and Sydney, in fact, came back for the following three Scream movies.
