Peter Bogdanovich was close to celebrating a decade of marriage when Cybill Shepherd came into his life and changed everything. The director cast the actress in his drama movie ‘The Last Picture Show,’ and a relationship soon blossomed between them.
Even though he’d devoted his life to Polly Platt, Bogdanovich felt inclined to give her up for Cybill. He ultimately divorced his wife in 1971, following which he and Shepherd embarked on a successful relationship together. However, it didn’t last forever, and the pair eventually called it quits in 1978.
