Thea had gone through this process and had decided she liked the look of this one guy, so she swiped right. Of course, while Tinder may seem selective, people can pretty much choose to swipe right on everyone in front of them, or even swipe left on everyone on the app.
This means there could be a whole variety of internet trolls ready to give someone a hard time. No one really wants to start a conversation tainted with cynicism, so there’s no way to filter people out without investing at least a little bit of time first. You never know, you could end up with one helluva story to tell, although, for most people, it’s just a grumpy block or delete.
