If you ever go somewhere on your bike, it’s important to bring a lock and chain with you. That way, you can secure your vehicle somewhere if you ever have to leave it behind. Of course, if you’re going to do that, you’ll probably want to chain it up to something that’s already rooted in place.
Attaching it to another bike isn’t going to do anyone any good. Now, the other rider can’t go anywhere until you return, and you both risk having your bicycles stolen by a troublemaker.
