So with Kate waiting for a proposal, and William tearing his hair out about what he really wanted, what was next for the royal couple? Well, in April of 2007 things finally came to a head, as the two lovebirds briefly split. The real reasons behind the separation have never been confirmed or fully explained, but it’s thought to be down to William’s concerns over Kate’s privacy. However, perhaps the real reason was that William was simply getting a bad case of cold feet. Did he feel the relationship was going too far, too fast? Or was it that the Duke fancied himself a bit of a lothario?
