Public speaking is something that many of us have to tackle throughout our lives. Many of us have been the ones in the audience trying to stifle a yawn and pay attention only to realize that we’ve been daydreaming for the last half hour. So how do you become a charismatic public speaker?
Make eye contact
There is a good reason that we don’t trust people that can’t look us in the eye: they usually have something to hide! People often think the same thing about public speakers that look at the ground and avoid the crowd. Making eye contact with people in the crowd helps to break barriers that you might have accidentally built between yourself and your audience. It also helps to keep people focused and listening to your points.
