The exact translation of Zipolite means ‘beach of the dead’. We would have thought that this would have been enough to put people off, but sadly, people still visit regularly, because there are lots of reasons to. The beach has bright-blue waters, pale sands, and incredible waves for surfers.
But, there are dangerously strong undercurrents that infest the waters, which have brought a lot of people to their doom. Although we would recommend visiting, we wouldn’t recommend going for a swim.
