If a customer doesn’t necessarily want a joke inside their box, they may just ask the employee to do something funny. Sometimes, however, the employees are not really feeling in the mood.
Sometimes it has been a long shift and they just don’t feel like being funny. When this happens, they often still feel obligated to give their loyal customers something. Here, this employee printed out a Grumpy Cat meme that just said “No” when they were told to put something funny in the box, which, in turn, was funny.
