When Karina was finally reunited with her heroic dog after returning home from the hospital, she simply looked at her pet and asked, “Why did you leave me?”
Eventually, she grew to understand why the dog came back home. She explained, “It was Naida who rescued me. I was really, really scared. But when we were going to sleep I hugged her, and together we were warm.” The story was so inspiring, that a statue of the girl and her dog was put up in Yakutsk, the capital of the Sakha Republic.
