Even though the car was engulfed in flames and most definitely not safe to drive, the engine was somehow still running. The boys were amazed that amongst the crackle of the fire they could hear the vehicle fighting to stay alive.
It was a testament to the car’s durability that it had managed to keep going even when it was on fire, although it had to give out eventually. After doing its best to avoid burning out, the engine knew when to say enough was enough.
