It’s pretty impressive how millions around the world still know the name Amelia Earhart. But it’s not surprising, considering how inspiring and unusual her story is.

After setting foot in an airplane for the very first time in 1920, Amelia fell in love – and just knew she wanted to learn how to fly. As a young women, it wasn’t exactly welcome or encouraged to become a pilot, but Amelia persisted. She took lessons, and became the first female pilot to fly across the Atlantic Ocean all by herself.
