The Roaring Twenties – an iconic decade in history that saw tremendous advancements in everything from technology to entertainment. Here we thought planking was a strange trend. But flagpoling was a thing in the ’20s, and that’s by far weirder. Funnily enough, this was a random dare that turned into a national trend.
Alan “Shipwreck” Kelly was the man who first did it (on a dare), and he then just kept doing it, and people copied him. Alan set his personal record in 1929, when he sat on top of a flagpole for 49 days. Even crazier, some got married while flagpoling…
