When did the crazy cat lady trope start? Perhaps it was back in the 1920s. This picture certainly makes it seem like a possible scenario.
The picture is from the Washington Cat Show sometime in the ’20s, a show located at the Wardman Park Hotel in Washington D.C. Middle and upper class ladies would bring their expensive purebred kitties to show off, and compete about who had the most perfect feline. In other words, just like today.
