[post_page_title]The Hollywoodland sign [/post_page_title]
That’s right, the famous Hollywood sign started as a very random Hollywoodland sign. It was put in the hills by real estate mogul Harry Chandler, for advertisement. It cost him a whopping $21,000, which was a big investment especially since it was only suppose to be there for a year.

But, the sign stayed, and was left to deteriorate during the Great Depression. It was then restored in the end of the ’40s, the “land” part was removed, and the sign turned into the iconic symbol it is still today.
