The Suffragette movement is pretty much the reason women can vote today, and their activism started in the early 20th century. At that time, they were seen almost as criminals.
Brave women such as Annie Kenney and Christabel Pankhurst, pictured above, risked their livelihood and reputation by refusing to stop fighting for women’s right to vote, a basic right we today take for granted. Before winning the fight, many of them were even arrested for their work.
