Coney Island was iconic in the early 20th century, as it was one of the first places Americans went just to have fun during their free time. There were rollercoasters, animal exhibits, a boardwalk – basically a paradise for families. And there was also a beauty contest.
Miss Coney Island helped bring even more people to this already popular hub of entrainment. Which seems strange today. Who could even imagine such a thing as Miss Six Flags or Miss Disney World?
