The 1998 remake of Hitchcock’s “Psycho” was advised against from the very beginning. People knew that it was never going to live up to expectations, and they were so right.
To make matters worse, Vince Vaughn was then cast as Norman Bates, and everyone lost all faith in it before it had even been released. The script was partly to blame, however Vaughn just didn’t have the same mysterious charm that Perkins had in the original “Psycho.”
