Sally Field and Burt Reynolds were busy that year because they also filmed another movie in 1978. This time, they were cast in The End, a black comedy movie that once again saw the real-life couple play on-screen lovers.
This film followed their relationship, and the tough times that they faced after Burt’s character discovered that he had a terminal illness. Because his character wanted to say goodbye to the world on his own terms, he was eventually sent to a mental institution. Many see this film as a movie flop.
