There are plenty of reasons that nurses might need a sample from patients. One nurse asked the patient to provide some fluids to test, so they handed them a flask and pointed in the direction of the bathroom.
The patient eventually came out with an empty container in their hand. They merely remarked that there was a toilet in the bathroom, so they didn’t need the flask. Apparently, they missed the memo that the lack of toilet wasn’t why they were handed the container.
