Later in the evening, after she put her son to bed, Milissa nervously took out the recorder from Camden’s backpack. She carefully listened to what it had captured, mostly grumbled up background noises that were incomprehensible.
Just when she had worried that her plan had failed, she heard something, clear as day, that made Melissa’s heart stand still. As hard as it was to listen, she knew she had to be strong – she had to get to the bottom of this once and for all.
