Cash’s relationship with Vivian Liberto began a month after he was honorably discharged from his service in the military in 1954. During their time together, they had 4 daughters.
However, in 1966, Liberto filed for divorce and cited Cash’s long tour schedule, substance abuse, as well as the number of affairs her husband was having as the reasons. During the time of the divorce, Carter came into the picture and her closeness with Cash certainly did not help the situation.
