
Johnny Cash was born J.R. Cash, working on his parent’s cotton farm in Arkansas, alongside his seven siblings. However, the simple life was not for young Johnny, who could not be contained by cotton and farming.
After joining the Air Force, Cash embarked on what would become a legendary musical career. Despite his story becoming widely known with the release of the 2005 Academy Award winning biopic “Walk the Line,” here are some less known stories about Johnny Cash.

One of the songs that Cash became known for was “Ring of Fire,” however very little people know that it was not actually his own original song.

It was, in fact, written by June Carter for her sister, Anita, and was originally called “(Love’s) Ring of Fire,” although she had written it really about Cash. They were both dating other people at the time, but when Cash heard the song he tweaked it and the song became an immediate hit on both pop and country charts.
