It seems as though there was nothing that came more naturally to Cash than putting pen to paper. Johnny wrote everything from songs to letters to stories to poems. He even hand-wrote in longhand two autobiographies, each written decades apart from one another.

He wrote his first autobiography, “Man in Black,” in 1975, followed by his second autobiography in 1997, titled “Cash: The Autobiography.” In addition, he wrote a novel in 1986 called “Man in White,” which Cash recognized as being one of his greatest accomplishments.
