Cash suffered from a long term illness called Shy – Drager’s Syndrome, which is a degenerative nerve disease. The effects of this disease include not only tremors and blackouts, but also a predisposition to getting sick with pneumonia as well as muscle stiffness.
In both the years of 1998 and 1999, Cash had pneumonia and had to be hospitalized as a result. We certainly can not say that Cash had it easy, despite his musical success.
