Perhaps the reason that June Carter was so hesitant to respond to Cash’s romantic interest in her was because she had another ardent musical admirer – the King of Rock and Roll himself, Elvis Presley.
During the 1980s, Cash discovered love letters in the attic that Presley had sent to Carter expressing his deep feelings towards her. Cash was not too happy to stumble upon these, and got straight to work, immediately burning them to demolish all evidence.
