Starting out as a young teen in beauty pageants, Raquel always knew that she wanted to act. In 1958 she attended the San Diego State College on a theater arts scholarship. Her first job on screen was as a weather forecaster on a local San Diego television station.
The hours were too much for her, though, so she gave up her studies. She moved to Los Angeles in 1963 and started applying for acting roles. With her talents and looks, it wasn’t too long until her career started to take off.
