The Moceanus had moved from Romania to the U.S. in 1981, looking to start a more prosperous life. They had themselves been gymnasts, and had extremely high hopes that their children would follow in their footsteps, and become world-class competitors.
Dominique supposedly showed a great deal of promise from an early age, and the Moceanus were overjoyed. They enrolled her in gymnastics training from a very early age, hoping to produce a top gymnast. Obviously this worked, although they did not show the same dedication toward Jennifer.
