Throughout her life, Jennifer Bricker was determined not to let her disability be an obstacle to what she wanted to do. Having learned to walk using her arms and torso from a young age, she actually rejected prosthetic legs, enjoying more freedom of movement without them.

Her dedication would pay off immensely, with Bricker eventually becoming the first person with a disability to become a high school tumbling champion. In honor of her perseverance and the example she set, Bricker was awarded the American Tumbling association’s inspiration award in 1998.
