The Brickers raised Jennifer with the mindset that there was nothing stopping her from achieving what she wanted to, and she lived according to that credo, enjoying an entirely mobile life with just the use of her arms.
At the age of 8, she was watching gymnastics on the TV when she spotted a 14-year-old Dominique Moceanu, and was immediately entranced. From the moment Moceanu’s team took gold at the Olympics, Jennifer decided that she wanted to become a gymnast.
