Amazon is currently the world’s largest online sales company, but when it was founded by Jeff Bezos in his garage, in 1994, it was an online bookstore. Bezos started his empire with around $300,000 from his parents, and three years later, he took it public with an initial public offering (IPO).
Surprisinly, Bezos’ annual salary as a CEO is “only” $81,840, but he’s been the world’s richest person since 2017 thanks to his Amazon shares. It is estimated that he makes $2,489 per second, steadily adding to his net worth of $149.4 billion.
