Sestini jumped from their boat into the water to save his wife. No matter how much he tried to find Bittencourt in the water, he couldn’t see her. Sestini would then spend the next three hours desperately trying to find his wife in the sea, but his efforts were no good.
Eventually, another boat came along which noticed Sestini waving for help, and he was rescued from the water, but his wife was nowhere to be seen. Hours later, Bittencourt’s body would be found after she drowned in the sea.
